When clients ask me whether they should stretch before or after exercise, I always ask what their goals are.

Stretching, like strength-training, has to be purposeful. I personally stretch during exercise to save time. Are you trying to prepare the body for your upcoming session? Then Dynamic 3D stretching that closely mimics the movements that you plan to perform is the way to go. Want to wind down and relax but are not going to work out? Do a dynamic stretch with a static cool-down.

The ongoing debate can be reduced to two schools of thought: one believes that stretching before a strength workout, weakens the muscle and reduces its power; the other school holds that stretching before exercise prevents Injury. That latter theory has been debunked countless times.
